Hey IH 👋
Just shipped the first version of Wingman AI — an AI dating assistant positioned against Rizz with one key difference: it explains why each reply works, so users actually learn instead of just copying generated text.
After watching friends overthink every Hinge message — typing, deleting, often not sending at all — I tried tools like Rizz with them. The replies worked but felt generic. Worse, my friends started relying on the AI instead of getting better at conversations themselves.
So the angle for Wingman is: build a coach, not a reply-vending-machine. Every generated reply comes with a one-line "why this works" explanation. Bio rewrites get a before/after score with reasoning. The goal is that users eventually graduate — needing the tool less, not more.
- Coaching layer — every output explains the strategy behind it
- Web-first — no app to install. Works alongside Hinge.com, Tinder web, anything in a browser
- UK-built / GBP pricing — £12.99/mo or £99/yr (£8.25/mo effective), no FX fees for UK users
- Privacy stance — conversations never stored, never used for training (Rizz has had complaints about this)
- 7-day refund — no questions, just email
- Next.js 15 (App Router)
- Supabase (auth + Postgres + RLS)
- OpenAI gpt-4o-mini (text + vision for screenshot upload)
- Stripe (live mode, monthly + annual)
- Sentry + Vercel Analytics
- Hosted on Vercel
- Shipped: coaching layer, bio scoring, reply history, screenshot upload, red flag detection (Elite), Google OAuth
- 8 signups in the last 48 hours (all from friend DMs)
- 0 paying customers yet — just went live with Stripe
- Active testing this week before public launch
1. Honest feedback on the positioning. Does "coaching, not crutch" actually land, or does it sound like marketing-speak?
2. Pricing read — £12.99/mo (or £99/yr = £8.25/mo effective), Elite at £24.99/mo. Too cheap? Too dear?
3. Anyone else built in this space and want to compare notes?
Free plan: 10 uses/day, no card required. Brutal feedback welcome.
