Alright, Indie Hackers, show me what you got and let's make that all-important mobile onboarding better and hopefully improve conversion.
A valid question. I have been building for 12+ years and have had apps featured on the AppStore. I have been Head of Product for a number of companies (LinkedIn) and have seen it all, what works, and more importantly what doesn't.
That being said, I want this to be a conversation. So if you disagree, then we can discuss.
Send me the link to the App if it's on the AppStore or available in TestFlight. Or alternatively, upload a video to this iCloud public folder
If you are not comfortable sharing this publically then please DM me on Twitter
It's simple, at least in concept. You want to create a wow-factor almost as soon as the App is launched for the first time.
You want to inform them without overwhelming the user and you want to produce value. That means, for most people, no onboarding or the demand for signup or payment is an absolute turn off, you must convince your user that they are getting something in return and this is only achieved by Demonstrating Value right at the start (more about Demonstrating Value in my previous article, How to Get Featured by Apple)
I am going to update section this with each bit of feedback that I give with a link to the app so you don't have to go routing through the comments for submissions. This will also hopefully give anyone that shares their onboarding to get additional feedback, and also some exposure. That's the goal at least.
From Ashish via Twitter. His app is currently only available on TestFlight

The onboarding is very informative, but it doesn't teach you how to play Sudoku if you are an uncultured swine like me. But it does teach you about the app and it demonstrates value so props on that Ashish!
My critique would be to remove the page control at the bottom as there are quite a few views and it may overwhelm. Additionally, on the last screen, I would have a screen with a big CTA, something like 'Let's play' that launches into your first game'

I really love the opening animation. It automatically creates a wow-factor moment and shows off instantly the attention to detail you can expect in the app. The onboarding is very simple, I would prefer to see some of the more unique features highlighted and how to get started with it. For instance, I would encourage the user to create their first task.
Additionally, I would add a section defining exactly what a 'Vault' is, for me I had no idea and had to look on the website, even then I am still a little unclear.
Try https://obeatow.com
sounds cool! what do you think about https://acreom.com ? (you can download the desktop app or use web app)
Alright @inferense I have added my comments to the main post. But overall comments, a very good start.
