feels very focused on the privacy aspect and not on the "treasure" that is ease of access or something along those lines?
There's a bit of a disonance between how the experience starts and where it continues to...
I would put the integrated partner icons at the top of the page and focus on ease of use/simplicity with a privacy kick

I have tried your demo. I like the look and the idea of organizing bookmarks as apps on desktop.
And I have found some * room for improvement**. I am using the newest version of Vivaldi. I have also tried it in Chrome.
The group of icons opens after a double-click. It was a little counterintuitive for me. I can think of two reasons why it could be that way:
I looked into your product road map. I see you are planning to do apps for cell phones. My suggestion is to use a single click for opening a group of icons. This way it will behave the same way both on desktop and on cell phones. Besides, nowadays is double-click used sparingly.
It took me some time to find the way to close a group of icons. In Vivaldi and also to some extend in Chrome, the main panel partly covers upper part of the window with a open group of icons. Because of that, I could barely see the cross for closing the window. It was more noticable in Vivaldi than in Chrome. Also, closing button on the left is a little bit unsual. But I think you chose to place it on the left because you were inspired by Apple design.
Why the window with a open group of icons is not maximized? I don't see a reason why it should have a margin from left and right. I think it would look better and used available space more efficiently.
I know that creating a great design is challenging, but we can improve it step by step. Don't take my word for it and try to test it on other people.
