Showing a screenshot of the product on the main page versus a random illustration

We do web hosting for PHP apps. Instead of using DO, or AWS, our goal is to save developers time when it comes to repetitive server tasks,

After doing self-reflection how I personally examine software/products when I'm in the market for a tool, I realized that showing a screenshot of the product is the best way for me to see first-hand what the product does. I've also incorprated a small demo video with great resolution. See it here at https://www.amezmo.com

I think being able to see a screenshot or video is a great way to show what the product does.

Just be careful to make sure your screenshots look like screenshots and not actual clickable buttons. Sometimes it can be confusing when there's a full resolution image of UI elements. One way to deal with this is to shrink them down and put them off to the side.

I also agree that the button to play the video is very camouflaged. I think the main problem is that it's got the same background color as the screenshot behind it.

I could be wrong, but if it where me, I'd go with a more traditional landing page layout with an embedded YouTube video to the side. Something like this mockup I did for you ;)

    • This makes it clear that there's a video to play.
    • The video thumbnail acts as a screenshot.
    • It also gives more room under the fold and shows the value proposition.

I appreciate this feedback and I like the 2 column layout. On the product sub pages I plan to put a video in the right hand column.

Hi Ryan, love the landing page (copyright in footer still says 2019). I agree with @brahimchougrani - the video Play button is way too subtle. Maybe keep your screenshot and video button separate. Move the video button onto its own row. Again, the LP as a whole really flows well for me. The blue you use in the hero of the homepage might be a bit too "primary" for my taste. Otherwise, you're killin it man!

I think it looks good with a screenshot. I think you may not only sell back time for developers (who don't want to be doing server stuff). I think you're also selling good taste.

Totally agree but the play button on the video is not clear put it in the middle and make it bigger and stylish change the color too nice work btw

Thanks for this feedback. The button has been re designed :)

Hi Ryan, for me its also a more trusty idea. Anyone can have an illustration, not many the real thing

    Hi,

    Interesting product, nice landing page.

But about the product itself, I don't get it really. I'm using a lot VPS, some are unmanaged (no production), but mainlly are managed vps (for production & client).

    I don't get the product : it's unmanaged VPS ? or managed VPS ?

If it's managed VPS, you don't wrote the SSD space, which is make me afraid to signup.

After, your are writing about "private domain" ? what is this ?

You don't list anything about traffic limit, uptime, subdomain , ftp, ssh, pythin, firewall, malware detection, IP..... (user will be "root" in the vps and can install everything or not....)

Also, price is more important for managed because price include also all the managed part (security, fast support...)
