While building my app's landing page recently, I started wondering if Sign in or Log in were better, if you needed to say Terms of Service or if _Terms was enough, and so on. So I ended up surveying 100 SaaS app landing pages for their microcopy, and found a few somewhat surprising things.
- Sign up, then Log in to join and access your account are most popular
- Primary CTAs are all over the place; Get Started, Sign Up, Start, or Try something were all common.
- Almost everyone calls the pricing page Pricing, and it almost always lives at
domain.com/pricing.
- This one was a surprise: Help Center was the most popular thing to call the support page.
- Terms and Privacy are both short and simple, and popular, and most commonly live at
domain.com/terms and /privacy, respectively.
- Use Sentence case (first letter capitalized, everything else lowercase) for Sign up and Log in, or use Title Case (first letter of every word capitalized) everywhere.
So if you want to quickly follow the crowd, those defaults will serve you well.
