Hi community! Does anybody here know about making 2D games? Things that have sorting, tracing, coloring, moving characters (unique theme based on my company) What kind of underlying technology would be best? From my research online, I have found that flash, html5, unity, gamesalad, gamemaker, construct3 are some options.
I have decided to learn unity and just started with a Udemy course on how to use unity to make simple games.
Any tips on how to start would be highly appreciated. Budget allowing, I am also open to hiring game developers. Just that most of them I find online specialize in creating arcade style games. TIA
I love your idea, Manasa! I am launching a remote job board platform this week. If you would like me to include your jobs on my site, let me know, and I’ll send you an email with the listing form and description of my company!
Hi @laurentroxell! That would be great. I am concerned about the costs of hiring a game developer at this stage;) But, I’d be happy to chat with anyone willing to intern and join us for couple months.
Intern positions will be listed on the site as well. Feel free to email me.

Forget flash. It's dead.
You can try Game Maker. I used it a long time ago, it's pretty nice for beginners.
Unity can be nice too, but if you don't have any experience in programming, prepare yourself for a long, long journey...
Thank you @MatthieuCneude. Game maker has been on my list. I haven’t tried it out, but will do that now.
I do have some experience in programming and scripting as I have an undergrad degree in engineering and relevant work experience. Of course, I haven’t built anything from scratch using my programming skills.
Stay away from flash! It is disabled by default in most browsers. HTML5 and Unity sound like better options. Don't know much about the other ones you listed. First question you have to answer yourself is whether you want the user to install the app (which means they have to go through the App Store or Google Play) or play in the browser (which lets you use HTML5+JavaScript for all platforms - iOS/Android/Windows/Linux). Check out this example of an addition game: http://slicker.me/game.htm
Good luck!
Thank you @monica_b. For preschoolers the game has to be in an app and older kids we could have something directly on the browser. I will check out all options.
makes sense! please post a link once you have something ready.
