Hey All - I'm looking for a simple time tracker. Just for personal use to better understand how my time is breaking down each week and help me improve on estimating and prioritizing.
I'm currently trying out Clockify, which has a nice free tier, but feels way over complicated for what I need - descriptions, projects, tasks, tags, prices, dashboards, reports, and more!
Just wondering if anyone has other recommendations? Thanks!
If you have a mac, try timeivy.com, (disclaimer, I'm behind it :)
It automatically tracks everything you do on your computer (ie. no start/stop buttons). So at the end of the day you can see how much time you spent on apps and websites, and everything is also automatically categorized by productivity level.
Tracking by project and tags is in the roadmap, but happy to hear your thoughts (good or bad)!
Very cool. Not sure it's quite what I need though. I'm looking to track work on different tasks that would be using the same apps and websites. E.g. time spent coding different features, but all the coding is done in Visual Studio Code.
Gotcha, yeah, tracking by project / tasks is still in the roadmap. As someone said already, probably toggl is your best bet. Good luck! :)
I am doing the same thing at the moment! Currently, I am tracking all my time, personal and work-related. I use Toggle Track:
https://toggl.com/track/features/
I think the real magic is the report feature of toggle, which works best if you take some time to set up clients & projects. For example, all my personal time is assigned to the client "personal," which has many projects like Netflix, Gaming, Friends, Family, etc.
Actually build a little companion app for Toggl that helps you to not forget tracking your time :D

Thanks, I'll check it out. It does seem like no matter what tool, that I'll need to spend a bit of time setting up the right organization. Good advice on the clients/projects.
Hi FiveOFive, I completely agree with most established time trackers being overly featured/complicated!
Shameless plug from a fellow IndyHacker: I build https://timetagger.app - it's meant for individuals and tries to keep things simple.
Lofi.co Have a time tracking app.
