Single Employee SaaS products that have generated millions

Creating a wildly profitable SaaS doesn't always require a huge budget and a large team. In fact, there are several examples of successful SaaS products that are run by a sole developer who created them. Here's a list of such SaaS products that have generated millions of dollars:

  1. Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a country-life role-playing game developed by Eric Barone. It has generated over $300 million in revenue in just six years. Eric could become the first one-person founder to achieve over $1 billion in sales.

  2. BuiltWith
Founded by Gary Brewer, BuiltWith helps you find what technologies and services a website uses. It generates $14 million in revenue per year.

  3. Viral Nova
Viral Nova is a curation site for the most viral content on the internet, similar to Buzzfeed. Founded by Scott Delong, it generated $5-$10 million per year in revenue and had 100 million readers per month at its peak, all without any funding or employees.

  4. Photopea
Photopea is a free photo and graphics editor made by Ivan Kutskir. It generates 10 million visits per month and approximately $1.5 million in revenue per year. People spend 1.5 million hours a month using Photopea.

  5. Digital Inspiration
Founded by Amit Agarwal, Digital Inspiration builds Google plugins for docs, sheets, slides, and more. It gets 5 million visits per month and earns $10 million in revenue per year. Over 40 million people have downloaded the plugins.

  6. Rego Apps
Rego Apps, founded by Allen Wong, has three apps (5-0 police scanner, remote for Tesla apps, and police scanner+) that are the most downloaded apps in their category. Allen has made over $100 million from these apps.

  7. Portfolio of Diverse Businesses
Justin Welsh has built several businesses that generate over $3 million in revenue with 94% margins. He earns through consulting, courses, paid community, newsletter sponsorships, and more.

  8. Brumate
Founded by Dylan Jacob, Brumate sells adult beverage cans (beer, wine) that keep them cold for 24+ hours. Dylan made $20 million in revenue with no employees, and the company has over 2.5 million customers worldwide.

  9. Portfolio of Diverse Businesses
Pieter Levels has built several companies, including a remote job marketplace, AI photography, nomad community, and others, that make over $3 million in revenue.

This list isn't meant to guarantee that your next SaaS will make millions by the end of the year. Instead, it's meant to inspire you to create something and market it with the resources you have because who knows what might happen!

I have created a short ebook on how a solo entrepreneur can start generating leads for free for a simple SaaS. Its just a little over 100 pages meaning you can knock it out in a few hours

I love these kinds of stories!

A couple of months ago I heard about Brumate (number 8 on your list) and couldn't help digging into Dylan's story. His story is interesting - I gathered some screenshots of an initial (failed) Indiegogo campaign and Dylan personally posting on Reddit in the early days, to see what it was really like when first starting out.

My notes are here if you want to find out more - https://radicles.fyi/ecommerce/the-chilling-story-how-dylan-jacob-sold-20m-in-his-first-2-years-with-no-investors/

This is incredibly inspiring! A powerful motivation that I have got through this is resourcefulness and determination can lead to amazing results. Thank you for sharing these motivating examples and encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to dream big and make the most of the resources they have!
