While working remotely I was thinking of how out of touch I am with my office colleagues nowadays. We mostly connect for work calls or have a few meetings to share and play games. We also have channels targeted for such tasks but sometimes they are not enough or we are too hesitant to post. (at least that has happened with me a lot!)
What if there is a slack app to share highlights of the day with your team and to stay connected with them in a better way.
Highlights can be that funny incident that happened to you today, a song/youtube video that is stuck in your head, productivity tips for others, major production release success, or anything you find amusing and want to share.
What if you can just share what’s in your mind without worrying about specific channels and stuff? Other people can like and share their thoughts on it. Sounds similar to twitter? Yes, it is but specifically for your slack workspace to stay in touch with your colleagues and to give a safe space to share office chitchat while working remotely.
App Features:
Would you be interested to try something like this? Or is the current slack way great to communicate and share?
Sounds interesting but from my experience of Slack, water-cooler or hang-out chats are enough. The participation tends to drop quite quickly too, unfortunately. In terms of highlights, most companies that I have worked with have daily standups and end of week calls to show off your best bits too.
Got it. getting similar responses from other people too plus the app focuses on changing people's behavior a bit which is also a down point. Will have to think more about it whether it's worth pursuing or not.
Sounds like a good idea to me, specially in these remote shifts.
