Slack is Fumbling Developers and the Rise of Developer Discords

This has been going on for a long time, the author only noticed this year because they left employment (and the requirement to use Slack).
The ex-slack developer group mentioned (Reactiflux) left about four years ago and that statement has been having effects since then.
Slack isn't necessarily fumbling developers so much as their business model is predicated on not hosting large communities that don't pay per user. OSS, gaming, streamers, etc are all these sorts of communities and since the Reactiflux event it has been a risky/short-sighted choice to choose Slack if you intend to grow.
Quarantine did boost online community creation and involvement globally.
