Hey Friends π
π I have just finished reading "Why we sleep" by Matthew Walker. The book is full of insight into sleep and health. I think the main premise for me was; while exercise and diet are important, how sleep is the foundation for a healthy life.
And how lack of sleep can impact your life significantly for the worse in many aspects.
π¦ I compiled some of my key findings to this twitter thread:
π The book does not stop there and mentions the need for innovations we need in order for our sleep-deprived society to switch itself to a society that understands the importance of sleep and then starts getting enough sleep.
βοΈ So basically we live in a sleep-deprived society and this needs change. The good news is though more and more people are tracking their sleep with smartwatches and other gadgets.
π± While sleep tracking apps are plenty, and some of them are good, they still have a long way to go. They need more sensors and they need better data crunching.
π Another aspect is IoT; we need better software and hardware for our environment to react to our circadian rhythm. Sure features like 'night shift' are something but they are so primitive. We need more of that everywhere and we need better software to manage our environment.
π‘ So for those indie hackers looking for ideas, this looks like an exciting area with plenty of opportunities.
Would you call this #healthtech? #sleeptech? :)
