Hi everyone! I recently started my small project called "Cities to walk". My goal is to let everyone find some well planned sets of interesting activities in the town they live or visit, with a few clicks or touches of screen:)
For reaching this goal I would like to create an app which would allow people to share their favourite routes in a detalized way: like where to grab the best coffee and a delicious croissant on my way from park to a small museum of modern art? How much money and time would I need?
As a non-code guy with some finance and trading background I found Notion to be usefull for starting the idea verification and basic prototyping.
I added my favorite route, just to illustrate the general idea behind the future app. And I need your help now:
Share your thoughts on this project and the best way for futher development, any feedback is welcomed!
Participate in this small research it will take 5-7 minutes to complete https://forms.gle/gsd1PjfWn1rBkP3h6
If you have technical background and want to collaborate DM me here or in telegram @Iadobro
Thank you!
That's a really great use of Notion, I did not know it was capable of all of that. I really like the idea, I would use it even for city that I live in.
I played PokemonGo for a week or so after it came out and the urban discovery aspect was the main draw for me, I think this could scratch the same itch. Maybe you can also use it as an inspiration?
You should talk to joshtab_ at twitter. He created walk.cafe now rebranded to footr https://footr.joshuatabakhoff.com
Thank you! Left him a message)
Hi @RusteGuy
First of all, your idea is great, I never saw a similar app. And I definitely would use it. 🤘
Here is my ideas:
And this is maybe one crazy idea, but I found it interesting.
You can only add sights to app. So sights can be monumentals, museums, parks, shops or anything. User open your app, submit his interests (Eg. I have "45 minutes" to explore "Parks and Coffee Shops" in "New York") Than your app, with algorithm finds best route with parks and coffee shops in New York.
Marko thank you soo much for such a detailed feedback!
About how many people can walk - it is not a restriction, just a recommendation like some routes are more suitable for a big company of friends and some are more romantic like for couples :)
About sights idea - you mean we don't have to "crowdsource" routes, just add sights and create route "on-demand" via algorithms?
Check out this https://www.inspirock.com, it does something simillar, create plans for traveling and what to do and see.
You're welcome.
Yep, some kind of AI to create routes based on user needs and wishes. Also, you can have a regular routes also.
I recently moved to Berlin and have been looking for biking routes that are scenic and fun. I have tried googling around, but didn't find anything that's user friendly (like with a map or something).
Your idea strikes me pretty cool. I think a community of users should be the cornerstone, and the experience of adding new routes should be made delightful. I think the best experience would be to let the user add route on the go.
All the best.
Thank you for your reply! I totally agree with you, building community is the key to success here.
Sounds like it's gonna be super specific, meaning you'd need tons of data for that you'd probably need tons of users
And on the other side a user wouldn't use it frequently, how many times would you look your same area? Or an are you travel to... Like 5 uses a year might be a lot no?
There are sites with such features that are more specific for either walks or experiences like in travel sites what to do some have like routes say for a wine or chocolate walk or bar crawl or museums as you mentioned
Thank you for your feedback! I will think about how to make it less specific
Hey, Tim! How's validation going?
I really like your idea and I'm sure it will be useful, especially for cities like Saint P (where it might be easy to go wrong and had a bad walk experience), so I certainly upvoted you!
I like the idea, who is your ICP and how will you scale? Are you thinking of this to be UGC?
I think the closest to what you are thinking about that I know is Jauntly: https://www.gojauntly.com/
This project looks interesting! Keep building
thank you!
