Smart Appliances- Security As A Service

Hi Guys,

I am working on an idea related to smart appliances security(B2C). The vision for the platform will be to educate and create awareness for consumers about the security of smart appliances(categorized based on appliance attributes/manufacturers) and guide them to make security-critical as part of installing smart appliances at home. The initial phase will be building a Mobile App with the minimum required features. Security As a Service model will be to provide consulting/expert service time for consumers and help them with their smart appliance setup goals in a secured manner!

Please would like to get a feedback from the Indiehackers community and what do you think about the idea?

Thanks for your time!

So is this like a review service pointing what products are secure vs ones that are just horrible?
Or around setups/config?.. most are vendor locked and aren't flexible to config unless hacked around..

    or what?
wouldn't you just best end up with a single or few vendor that actually put security as a focus?
and after I have that single vendor, what do I need your service for?

Like I am not sure what it that relm you intend to focus on

It's not a bad idea, and most importantly - it's relevant. I often encountered the need for such a service, when I first became interested in technology. At that time there were no easy-to-understand reviews and tech support wasn't always able to help me. Besides, I was going through difficult period in my life - moving to a new city, so finding people who could help me was extremely difficult. Then I found the service https://musiccityappliance.services/ which helped me a lot with repairing some stuff. Regarding your idea - find a target audience and do it!

Hi Anishia! Sounds like an interesting idea. I suggest to pinpoint an initial target market that already facing some appliance security problems, because creating awareness in potential customers will not have great ROI on your time and resources invested. It's much better to find eager customers with a burning problem they want to fix right now. For example, I've been hearing about security issues with some Ring video doorbells, floodlights, baby room monitors, etc that gets hacked and strangers get unauthirized access to video feed. It would make sense to research about such incidents and start with an landing page offering a solution to test how many people will show interest and what they're willing to pay. If you find a good demand numbers, then you would start building, testing and improving your actual product/app. Hope it makes sense to you :)
