Snaplet: A Second Brain for Screenshots and PDFs

Hey Indie Hackers đź‘‹

I recently shipped Snaplet, a product that started as a personal pain.

I take a lot of screenshots, download PDFs, save receipts, contracts, and random documents. Over time everything ends up scattered across folders, drives, and galleries. Even when I know I have a file, I can’t remember where it is or what I named it.

Existing tools are great at storing files, but not at finding them. You can’t search screenshots or PDFs using natural language. You’re forced to rely on filenames, folders, or dates - which breaks down fast.

So I built Snaplet to act like a second brain for documents:

  • Upload screenshots and PDFs

  • Files are auto-organized into smart folders

  • Search using natural language like “Amazon refund receipt” or “rent agreement 2023”

Snaplet is web-based, and privacy-focused. It’s still early, but a few people are already using it and giving feedback.

I’m sharing this here to:

  • Get honest feedback from other builders

  • Learn how others handle discovery for document-heavy tools

  • Figure out whether this problem resonates beyond just me

Would love to hear:

  • How do you manage screenshots and PDFs today?

  • Is natural-language search something you’d actually use?

Happy to answer any questions or share more about how I built it.

Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?
