So, I guess the Product Hunt launch is still worth it. Here's Why and How

Introduction

Hey all, quick background, I'm a first-time founder. As someone new to this space, I've read lots of advice on how to grow, and Product Hunt is a name that keeps popping up - as a not ideal place to launch :)

I've read many posts on Reddit and social media about how it's filled with bots and lacks real customers, so my expectations were super low.

But I launched anyway.

Results

And I was not expecting these results

  • Our traffic soared to 5k unique visitors

  • We got more than 1000 signups from the launch!

That’s insane for me! Here’s the app (got Product of the day) as a proof: https://saner.ai/

Here are the key values from the launch:

  • Boost in credibility (especially for early stage startup)

  • A ton of sign-ups - who we can reach out, interview and find their pain points

  • Potential paying users

Why these results?

I think the reason I got a huge amount of signups is because my product resonates/benefits indie hackers, founders and entrepreneurs - who I believe are a significant part of the Product Hunt audience.

(I've had the chance to interview some new users, and most of them are entrepreneurs lol)

So, that's my take on Product Hunt. If your product aligns with the PH audience, launching there can still be a good way to reach users. Hope it brings clarity somehow to someone consider launching on this platform

Of course, hitting PH on the day brings even better results, but it does take some effort — about 3 weeks (not full time) for us to prepare.

Yeah I think launching on product hunt is good only if your target audience are there, and also will be launching mine soon

Thanks for sharing this post I was definitely contemplating a PH hunt for my own product quite a few times, but I dropped it since I feel my audience is not on PH. The biggest takeaway here being the audience on PH

Just launch it, Bhavi. Don't stop yourself from doing it :)

PH's audience is broader than many people think (myself included).

I always assumed that PH would be filled with small founders, so when someone hunted my B2B enterprise app I didn't pay too much attention.

Turns out, it led to a pretty significant lift in revenue.

Yes :) great that it helps
