Solar-roof quotes fail when price per m² and price per kWp are mixed
When homeowners compare solar-roof quotes, the biggest mistake is treating €/m² as the main unit. Published figures can refer to tiles only, the active photovoltaic layer, or a complete roof project. In our review, solar tiles appear around €250–€400/m² installed, while one material-only listing reaches €487.74/m² before VAT. Neither figure is directly comparable with a conventional turnkey PV system.
A better founder-style lesson: normalize every quote by scope and output. Ask for the active area, installed kWp, inverter, protections, scaffolding, removal of the old roof, waterproofing, paperwork, taxes, and warranties. Then calculate both €/kWp and total project cost. This turns an attractive headline number into a decision-ready comparison.
