We are avid travelers and constantly see travel deals and airfares that seem to be too good to be true and they always are :(....as they are always outside of school holidays.
Where we live it is not possible to simply take the kids out of school outside of school holidays. We thought it would be great if we develop something that filters travel deals to our own school holidays.
Quickly we are turning this into an MVP to see if others would be interested. Thoughts?
If the product solves a problem..its worth the effort!
💯💯
My thoughts exactly @Raiyanyahya!
Go for it. All the best !
Thanks so much!
How will you source the deals? Building an aggregator is a business on itself.
How will you monetize it? People won't pay monthly for something that might give results eventually.
How will your market it? To it become a business your CAC must be lower than your LTV.
It's a good idea, for example I'd love to use a service where I can input "Let me know of any deals for such and such places on such and such dates". In order to become a business the best bet would be a subscription service, say $10 per month and with 2,000 users you got yourself a business.
I'm afraid the churn rate would be a problem if people don't get results (or only need one given result per year).
18 SaaS Metrics is a good read to think about a business.
Hi @mauricio,
Thanks for your comment! Yes, great comments indeed.
Luckily, my wife is a travel agent so we have one up there. At the moment, it is only semi-automated as this is an MVP. However, I have already thought of some ways to automate it once validated.
We are building one step at a time.
As for the business model, we are thinking about a freemium model, with affiliates to overlay two different types of revenue streams.
But happy to bet agile in the process as we are still discovering what our customers want.
Thanks again!
Great points you mentioned. And thanks for the article.
hey @rogiervdlaar ! I started building inspectflow.io as a way to "scratch my own itch" when I started working with Tailwind CSS and then I found other developers with the same problem.
inspectflow is really a good product. I am happy being a paid user.
thanks for the shoutout @prakis 🙂
Short checklist:
Keep solving your problem ;) it helps in so many ways before starting as a business/company.
Interesting! I'd be a customer. I'd however want you to consider your total addressable market - if you are looking to generate some MRR from it.
Thanks @thebigk! TAM is pretty large the way we see it. Will keep you posted!
Obviously, solve your own problem, then others.
We have the same pattern: we built HeyForm to serve ourselves first, putting many of our daily workflows to it and making it automated. Then we consider making it public service, some friends and partners first, then new customers throughout the world.
Happy building it!
Thanks @dearroy! Exactly our process as well. Good luck with HeyForm, I'll be sure to check it out!
