Some results of paid actions promoting a Telegram bot

Hi everyone,

I recently launched a service based on a Telegram bot that help users to analyze and follow their crypto portfolio, and helps them taking investment decisions

After a month of beta testing the service with some users (~150 friends, close-known, colleagues...), and applying some adjustments based on their feedback, we've opened our service and started some promotional actions, paid (Google Ads, Twitter and Facebook) and organic (Telegram Channel, Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn).

I'd like to share our results and impressions after first week or so, and ask for some advice from your experience:

On the organic side, we publish some news on our social profiles and also publish some news about the service. For the news, I set up some Integromat workflows to allow the automatic selection of, at least, two daily relevant news in the crypto market, and the possibility of manually curate some more educational / relevant articles. Those articles are being saved to a Pocket account, and later on, some scheduled tasks recover them and publish in our Telegram Channel, Twitter account and Facebook page. So, If I do nothing, at least two relevant actual news are being published in all those channels, and I only have to "save to Pocket" any article that I want to publish.

It also allowed us to, in some way, "warm-up" our social profiles for those users that we were going to reach though the paid campaigns.

Paid actions results by channel

  • Facebook: We created an adversing to promote traffic to our website and created a targeted audience for our promotion, based on age (30-50), location (we start focusing in spanish users) and interests (several crypto and technology related topics)
    Spent: 60€ - Audience reached: 71K - Bot subscribers: 1 πŸ˜₯
    Conversion: 0.0014% | CPA: 60€

  • Twitter: Created an advertising campaign based on a descriptive tweet, with a similar targetting group than the previous FB campaign.
    Spent: 250€ - Audience reached: 113K - Bot subscribers: 6 πŸ˜”
    Conversion: 0.0053% | CPA: 42€

  • Telegram: I made some research for spanish speaking communities where promote directly our bot, i mean, a promotional action from Telegram itself, not linking to the website, but linking directly to our Telegram bot. At this moment we've run some advertising on 3 different spanish channels (movies & humor).
    Spent: 150€ - Audience reached: 342K - Bot subscribers: +200 πŸŽ‰
    Conversion: 0.05% | CPA: 0.75€

When I talk of subscribers, I mean free subscribers, so the conversion and CPA are calculated only based on people adding the bot, even if they are only using the free version.

The only channels that has brought us paid users at this moment have been Telegram (paid) and our organic posts at LinkedIn.

As you can see, there's a huge difference in terms of bot subscribers between the "traditional" or web-focused campaigns, like FB or TW, and the Telegram campaigns. The call to action buttons in our website are mainly focused on redirect users to our bot, but since the user has to have installed the Telegram App, there's a possibility that they don't have it (or they are in desktop) and that could be a huge obstacle (high motivation required to go install & configure the app and come back to our website to reach the bot 😬)

Asking for advice here πŸ‘‡

So my questions here: From your experience while marketing similar services...

  • Does it makes sense to keep advertising on those channels (FB/TW/GA)
Maybe only targeting mobile users? (I don't know if it's possible on FB/TW). πŸ€”
  • What other tools would you suggest to use to reach new audiences on Telegram?
  • Since we also have a Telegram channel, would it be better to focus our paid campaigns only to the bot and share our organic efforts bringing users to the bot and subscribers (that potentially could become users) to the channel? Or maybe we should split our paid efforts also between the channel and the bot?
  • Makes it sense to jump or open to new ecosystem like FB Messenger and then take profit of its Ad platform? Any experience with FB Messenger-based service?

Thank you! πŸ™Œ
