Some YouTubers are building their own infrastructure, is this the path of the future?

Hi all, I hope you’ve had a good weekend...

There was a great article about YouTubers building their own infrastructure that I read last week, posted it to my linkblog:

Why popular YouTubers are building their own sites - some of these YouTubers get to the stage where they are small studios, creating digital effects and quite complex workflows, and so it makes sense for them to start wanting backup plans in place, I’m not sure that creating competing platforms is the best way forward, but I think the trend to want to build your own infrastructure is healthy, and it will be interesting to see what shape these new ventures take because they are building from a different angle than the old school studios and effects facilities bbc.com #

Does the article resonate with you, is this something other creators are doing or considering?
