Somebody is trying to get a replica of my website
While I was checking backlinks to my website I found a posting in upwork and someone is looking for a full stack developer to create a clone of my website. Did anyone experienced this kind of competition and what was your response? Their budget is 800/1200 USD and want it do be done in a month!
My initial though is, "yes, good luck with that, that took me 4 years to build" go ahead and make a similar one!
Now we wait.
If you build anything successful you'll get copycats — it's an inevitability you'll have to accept and plan for. Usually the copycats are incompetent, as evidenced in your case, where they think the tech can be cloned in a month. Given both of the above, it's nothing to worry about! Your biggest competitive advantage usually comes down to simply being better and growing faster.
Are they trying to build an exact clone? If so, I doubt you have a lot to worry about. If they cared about the idea, they would want their own unique take. And if they don't care about the idea, they're not going to be able to compete long term (because you'll be adding cool new stuff that helps people, and they'll be waiting for new stuff to copy).
Are they trying to apply your idea to a new niche? That's kind of what a lot of us IHers do. Find successful models, then find a market we can help better than a big player.
