Someone made $250k selling spreadsheets on etsy — im listing my agency data there next

gumroad has given me zero organic discovery after 26 products. etsy has millions of buyers actively searching for digital downloads. the math is obvious.

gumroad vs etsy for digital products

gumroad:

  • zero organic discovery (Discover activates after first sale)
  • no search traffic
  • you bring all your own traffic
  • great checkout experience
  • 10% fee

etsy:

  • 95 million active buyers
  • built-in search (people search for "agency contact list" or "marketing leads")
  • SEO-friendly listings
  • 6.5% transaction fee + $0.20 listing fee
  • competitive but discoverable

why etsy might work for my product

my $19 agency contact list is a CSV file. etsy sellers move thousands of spreadsheets, templates, and data files every day. the buyer on etsy is already searching for business data — they just need to find mine.

on gumroad, nobody finds anything unless you drive traffic yourself. on etsy, the platform does the distribution.

the plan

  1. create etsy listing with mockup images showing the CSV preview
  2. price at $19 (same as gumroad)
  3. optimize title and tags for "agency contact list", "marketing leads", "email list"
  4. let etsys search do the work

if someone made $250k selling spreadsheets on etsy, a $19 agency contact CSV should at least get a few sales from organic search.
