Sometimes the Best Product Ideas Come From Repetitive Frustration

I didn’t build InvoSnap because I had some huge “startup vision.”

Honestly, I built it because I got tired of doing the same frustrating work over and over again.

A while back, I was dealing with invoices manually — downloading files, opening PDFs, checking XML data, fixing OCR mistakes, copying numbers into spreadsheets, then double-checking everything because one tiny error could create a mess later.

It felt ridiculous.

This is exactly the kind of work software should handle better, yet most tools I tried were either too clunky, too expensive, or still required a surprising amount of cleanup.

So I started building InvoSnap.

The goal is simple:

Drop in invoices (PDF, XML, images), and get clean structured accounting data out.

No copy-paste loops. No fixing broken OCR output for half an hour. No repetitive manual cleanup.

It’s still early, and I’m learning a lot as I go — especially around what accountants and small businesses actually need versus what I think they need.

That’s probably been the biggest lesson so far:

Building the product is hard.

Finding the real pain points is harder.

Still, every time I process a batch of invoices and watch something that used to take forever happen in seconds, it feels worth it.

Curious if anyone else here is building in accounting / workflow automation?
