Sony’s ILME-FX2B drops into the Cinema Line as a compact, full-frame option for solo shooters and small crews who still want a “proper” cine workflow. It pairs a 33-megapixel back-illuminated sensor with 10-bit codecs, Log pipelines, and a tiltable EVF—unusual in this size class—while keeping the flat-top form factor that rigs easily without a cage.
At the core is a 33 MP full-frame Exmor R sensor with Dual Base ISO at 800 and 4000 and a claimed 15+ stops of latitude when recording in S-Log3. For straightforward delivery, S-Cinetone is available as a default look; for on-set monitoring, creators can load user LUTs to preview a graded image without baking it in.
Internally, the FX2B records 4K up to 60p in 10-bit 4:2:2 (including All-Intra options) and Full HD up to 120p for slow motion. The HDMI Type-A port supports 16-bit RAW output to external recorders, giving teams a higher-ceiling pipeline when projects demand it. A built-in cooling fan underpins extended 4K/60p takes, reducing thermal limits for long interviews or events.
Sony’s 5-axis in-body stabilization works alongside Active and Dynamic Active modes to steady handheld footage. Autofocus is the AI-driven Real-time Recognition AF you’d expect from recent Sony bodies, with subject detection that extends beyond people to animals, vehicles, and more. Focus-breathing compensation is supported with compatible Sony lenses.
The camera’s body keeps the low-profile, flat-top layout with multiple threaded mounts, plus tally lamps and Cine-style controls. Notably, it adds a 3.68-million-dot tiltable EVF for stable eye-level work in bright conditions, complemented by a 3.0-inch vari-angle touch LCD. For audio, the FX2B is the body-only configuration; an optional XLR top handle enables 4-channel, 24-bit capture when needed. Connectivity covers USB-C (10Gbps), Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz, and HDMI Type-A. Media is flexible with dual slots: CFexpress Type A / SD in Slot 1 and SD in Slot 2.
