We all know (or should know) that every new venture needs to start from a problem and deep understanding of your potential customers.
We also know that a great tool to achieve this understanding is conducting costumer discovery calls early on. Having done those a few times for different projects, I hit the same wall over and over - how to find those potential customers who are willing to talk to me.
This got me thinking - how come we don't have a community/place for indiehackers to collaborate and help each other with such connections?
If such a medium exists, please let me know! otherwise - what do you think would be the best way to start something like that?
I've been struggling with the same and have thought the same.
It'd be great to have a place where IHers can post "I am a business doing X and am looking to answer ABC questions" and then other users could take those question to people who might need X. Or even just a general customer interview platform where you can view anonymized answers to similar questions.
Thanks!
What do you think would be the best medium for that? a slack community maybe?
I suggest an input form (TypeForm, Google Sheets, etc) and then display the data in AirTable or an HTML table. That way it's a little easier to search and older posts don't get lost in the noise of more recent posts. In reality all startups need to be constantly validating, selling, etc. so just the need for customer discovery interviews doesn't really expire. The interview and validation might change over time.
Slack also requires login, which adds that one little extra barrier to entry.
I asked Courtland for API access to the IH Products and it'd be nice to integrate this with products listed on IH.
In reality I think there's an entire web app idea here. If usertesting.com can build a web app around UI/UX tests then I think the same applies to customer interviews.
Thanks, that's a good idea.
I just went ahead and created such a shared doc - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xvRHC8Z_K_EpT7bOHch1laooEKBk120DckBH3DPlLZ8/edit#gid=0
I'll also share this on a dedicated post, so it's more easily accessible.
