Spending on advertising on early stages, only with landing page

Would it be a good idea to spend money on ads to get traffic only if you have the landing page? The purpose of that is to quickly get emails and generate LEADS and also validate the idea.

Not saying to go crazy on ads, but just trying out with small budget, like 50-100$

    I believe they're called smoke test landing pages.

    You put a login button, track how many click it, and have a popup saying coming soon enter email here.

        I was able to get 350 clicks on reddit for $45 for http://versoly.com/

        Make sure to add UTMs
