🧾 Spending review: what are the 3 most expensive tools/services that you use?
I'm trying to figure out how indie hackers spend money online. Down here, I'd love to have a list of services and tools with related price.
I'll start:
- Co-working âž¡ $300/month
- Bubble âž¡ $180/month (6 apps in production)
- Accountant âž¡ $120/month
How about you?
Other ones that cost a decent amount are urlbox.io (~$30/month) for automating email screenshots for pageflows.com and inboxflows.com. Stripe fees also add up, but they don't really feel like a cost. I also spend smaller amounts on Buffer & Postmark.
Try getting a startup promo for stripe. They will waive the first $50k fees.

Ah yeah, I pay $120/month for my accountant too. I should have add that in the list as well!
I like to see accountants on these lists! We've been talking about going out on our own to start a CPA firm, I wonder how ya'll go about finding your accountants? Need to really dial in some way of growing our client list.

I've been thinking the same thing. I keep paying for new services here and there and really need to create an inventory of everything.
Yup, it's really helpful. It feels really good once you put it in writing and you get a solid sense of where your money is going.

DigitalOcean= ~$5 a month
Domains= ~$100 a year
Quickbooks Accounting= $20 a year with the offer but I aint gonna resub it was terrible
Hubspot $500+ per month. Immensely valuable when dealing with thousands of contacts and clients.
It is interesting to see several people here including a monthly fee for an accountant in their expenses. My product is still trying to find market fit, but hopefully I'll need one soon.
At what point did you realize you needed to have a dedicated accountant?
Bench.co is so cheap, it's hard NOT to spend money on it. For me, two hours time saved per month is worth $250 per month for good bookkeeping and tax advice.

ActiveCampaign = £51/pm
My most expensive rn is my Hetzner servers. The are a beast for €54/month https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/ex52-nvme
Also really impressed with Hetzner its 100% my goto place for when I wanna get serious!

I'm always looking to use indie made products if possible. Upscribe by Joshua Anderton is something I am looking at. Get The Audience by Matthias Bohlen is something I'm currently paying for. I also use Transistor.
