Spent the last 6 months building a keyword research tool, and I finally hit 100 active users this week.

The hardest part wasn't the tech. It was realizing most "keyword tools" are overkill for indie founders. You don't need 50 filters and real-time API access when you're just trying to figure out if "AI note-taking app" has enough search volume to justify a blog post.

I built SERPSpur because I kept bouncing between 3 different tools to get basic data: search volume, CPC, keyword difficulty, and ads competition. And don't get me started on analyzing keywords by country - that was always a separate subscription.

Here's what I learned from early users:

  • 70% only check 3 metrics: volume, difficulty, and CPC
  • Most people never use "related keywords" features
  • Country-specific data is the #1 requested feature that big tools charge extra for

So I stripped it down. No fluff, no enterprise pricing tiers. Just type a keyword, pick a country, and get the data you actually need to decide if it's worth targeting.

The tool is at https://serpspur.com/tool/keyword-research-tool/ if you want to try it. Still early, still rough around the edges, but it's saving me hours every week.

Would love to hear what metrics you actually use when researching keywords. I'm debating whether to add more data points or keep it minimal.

Great point — US-centric tools can be misleading for global niches. I've seen similar success targeting Canadian search trends with localized data. How does your tool handle multi-language or region-specific intent variations?

Great point about country-specific data. I've had similar eye-openers when targeting Canada vs. US—even CPC can be wildly different. Your tool sounds handy for avoiding those costly assumptions.

Crazy how easy it is to overlook geo-specific data. I burned months on generic keyword tools before realizing my UK audience was searching completely different terms. That tool actually looks solid for catching those hidden gaps.

Totally agree — localizing keyword data is a game-changer. I once found a high-intent UK term with half the competition of its US counterpart, and it doubled my conversion rate. What's your tool's data source for CPC accuracy?
