So I've built a paper trading app with a social vibe to it, think Instagram meets Robinhood. User adoption is a little slow but it's going alright. I think to really find product market fit I need to add some features that differentiate it from the typical paper trading apps from brokerages.
I can either build interactive learning modules where it steps you through how to trade options and different strategies/ positions, or I can build gamification stuff (e.g. badges for first trade, getting 10% returns on a trade, doubling your portfolio, being able to view other peoples' trading histories/ performance).
What would you, personally, be more interested in seeing?
You should think hard on what provides the best return to your customers. Is gamification going to make them money? If not, they're going to be pissed.
Is learning something they can understand? Is it something you can coherently explain? If not, they're going to be pissed.
I don't know your users, but as a semi-active paper trader I care about the following: 1) How much money I'm making, and 2) How do I make more.
Ha, I love the frankness. I've been thinking the same, gamification would be fun, but they're there to learn a serious skill. Thanks for the feedback
