Hey there,
i've been pondering whether i should split my app into 2 separate app/websites.
To give you some context:
the app:
https://aktu.io
It's a RSS reader (when you're logged in) with a "public website" part (headlines, top stories, etc...)
why:
i thought there could be a synergy between the two features, but it seems there are 2 different populations: some people come to the public website from google searches and don't use the rss reader, and rss reader users don't seem to use much the public website.
Also i think it's going to be more difficult seo wise to rank for rss reader when i'm going to do some seo work, because of all the news articles on the public website and the seo noise it brings.
What do you think ?
Would it be possible to have two different landing pages--possibly on different domains? That would give people looking for the headlines a place to go: internetheadlines.com (probably taken), but allow them to quickly set up a RSS reader with the partner site, if they wanted to follow one source. People looking for a RSS reader could go to simpleRSS.com (probably also taken) and setup their RSS reader, but include a link to 'headlines from across the Internet' in the experience.
