Sports Teams Legal (NBA)

I have been playing around with an idea of making a web application that would contain everyday games from the National Basketball Association (NBA). This means I would have to use real team names and even player names.

Whenever I get ideas about using some external data I start wondering about the legality of it all. Can I use the names? there seem to be websites around who do that.
