Stand-Up #83 - April 30th, 2020

Got the font awesome icons working in React as planned today.

More importantly, I FINALLY GOT PAID!

TLDR: I previously ran a small web dev agency and the primary client, Carnival Cruise Line, was late on payment, changed payment terms without notifying me (I only learned of the term changes weeks later through friendly contacts who worked there), and then proceeded to be late AGAIN on their new terms.

Well, they partially paid up today after 69 days of waiting. They still have a boatload remaining in outstanding invoices that they need to pay me, but they paid enough that I can fulfill all of my debts that I previously had to delay.

As I wait for them to pay the rest, I can at least sleep easy knowing that all of my employees got their final paychecks, my contractors are getting paid, and my corporate debt will be paid off as well.

Originally, tomorrow was going to be my last day with them as I wrapped up the contract, but I got so frustrated with the complete lack of communication from their accounts payable department that I rage-quit yesterday. Seriously, they never sent me a single email or voice message regarding their changes in payment terms nor did they contact me to apologize for being severely late in payment, even late on the new terms that they forced upon me. I guess that dropping the contract in its final days sent a hard message and they finally understood and paid up.

• Finish off working FontAwesome icons into the project wherever needed
