Stand Up: Last day of October! How did you do? What will be your goal for November?

What will you accomplish by end of October?

What did you do yesterday to work toward your goal?

What will you do today?

It was an unbelievable month! After long journey launched meeting notes powered by voice to text (https://tactiq.io) and got invite to YC interview in December.

November is all about feedback, customer interviews and adapt to the needs of the teams

    OCTOBER 31st

    • 🏆 Earn & pay my overhead.
    • Launch a small pilot.
I've validated the problem w/ paying customers and achieved my OKRs and KPIs. Try to onboard customers but was confronted w/ the status quo & bad timing. Had to halt all foolish thoughts of wireframing or building a shining toy. Refocused all my attention on sales, customer expectations, and answering any & all questions to avoid buyers remorse.

    YESTERDAY

    • Work on the pilot onboard template.
    • Do PT job.
    • In bed by midnight. ⏰

    TODAY

    • Paid me & earn my overhead.
    • Research for the next consulting project.
    • Do PT job.

Finished upgrading my code so now I can handle multiple categories for the same brand. I added 25 tent brands and got my first tent warranty review the day after I posted the upgrade. Going to post the tent ranking list to reddit as they seem to find it helpful there. For November add as many other gear categories as I can so trustfuss.com becomes the most complete warranty gear rating and analysis site on the internet.

Strong October. Just added "Form" slides so you can use the widget to capture information about your leads in addition to the more fun "poll" style slides.

For November: add "Embeddable Forms" to the list of features on Zigpoll (https://www.zigpoll.com).

The idea is that you would be able to place the form/poll/survey anywhere in your webpage instead of just the bottom right or left corners.

Hopefully this expands the use-cases for the app significantly. What do you think?

Zigpoll looks really cool. Usually chat/poll widgets are in the bottom corner, and it seems to work fine. Have people been asking to embed it?

      1. 3

        Thanks I appreciate it!

I've gotten a couple of requests to embed it. The use-case that gets pitched is that you could put it at the bottom of a blog article so you can ask some follow up questions to your readers once they finish with your content. You can do this with the embed (have it pop up once you're scrolled some percentage down the page) but people seem to prefer when it feels like a natural continuation of their site.

I'm in the throes of potential customer interviews to see if there is product market fit for what I want to create. I've had 3 interviews, which were illuminating. I'm really happy with my October progress because as a developer the desire to build something is STRONG. "Build it and they will come" field of dreams style. From experience and my obsessive listening of the IH podcast, I KNOW the hardest part for developer founders isn't building the cool thing, it's SELLING the cool thing. What's the quote: "First time founder focus on tech, second time founders focus on market" or something. Anyway, it's been challenging to channel my energy into listening to potential clients but I know in the end it will make a better product!

October was a bit of a slow month as far as tangible results go, it's mostly been research and planning.

That being said, now the stage is set for a productive, if somewhat ambitious, november.

    November Goals:
    ---

    • Mechtacular (mechtacular.com)
      • About page
      • First four informational pieces
      • First community roundup post
      • Set up email signup drip flow

    ---

    • Whynary (register.whynary.com)
      • Proper landing page
      • Rough "alpha" launch
      • Three marketing and explaination pieces
      • At least 5 alpha users

    ---

    • Unannounced book project
      • Announce
      • First two chapters
      • Outline for rest of chapters
      • Self publish

The idea was to have 2 products launched by the end of the month

So I managed to get Vimalin out of the door shortly after Catalina was released.
Last Friday I stumbled over a marketing opening I had never pursued (submit your app to shareware sites). Ever since I did that, it has been a tad busy.
There are well over 100 downloads in the past few days alone. Of course a download does not equal sales, but it is the first step. It also triggered a number of support questions. No blockers, but it has made me refocus on Vimalin for the moment. As a result the "Process Describer" project is on the back burner for now.

Yesterday: got stuck looking for better visual representation of the source code at sourcespy.com. Moving TOO SLOW
Today: looking to break thru and finish documentation update for major projects
End Of Week: reach out to project owners for feedback
