    KUDOS
@bjames on fixing bugs w/ client validation tool. Remember it doesn't have to be perfect but useable.

    SIDE NOTE
Totally mismanaged my time yesterday. Oh, well try again today.
To be honest, I'm hopeful but tired. Past 6 months have been rough. To change things around requires work on my part. So I gotta find ways & time to relax while staying focus and making progress. Any recommendations when you're at a crossroad and a vacation is not an option?

    1. 2

Totally agree with @bjames. The best part of being an entrepreneur is the ability to switch it up. When I'm tired of coding and being (technical), I'll work on something creative like design or copy.

And although vacation is out of the question... what about a cocktail with friends? Being an introvert, I'm too often reluctant to live life beyond the keyboard. But every time I do, it's rejuvenating. Too bad we're not in the same hood!

    2. 2

One thing that has really helped me out is the sheer number of things there is to work on when building for the web. If I'm feeling tired and don't have the energy to work on the task at hand, I might work on something else for a few nights (maybe design instead of content or SEO instead of coding, etc). I've only been at this for a month though, so maybe someone with a little more experience can chime in.

Also, listening to the indie hackers and startups for the rest of us podcasts are always super inspiring!

  2. 3

Back for a third day in a row. Woooo!

By end of August, I'll have launched early access to my Sales For Founders course, and generate $20k in presales.

I'll also have finally decided whether I want to say 'enrollment' or 'enrolment'.

    • Consulting day

    TODAY

    • Edit and publish a podcast episode of my own
    • Answer a build up of emails from people on the earlybird waitlist

    KUDOS

Me for turning up 3 days in a row! (I'll be less selfish and do this properly from tomorrow, promise 😇)

    1. 1

20K in presales is downright lovely! How much will you charge for the course and how large is your mailing list?

(I know I'm being super nosy, so don't hesitate to tell me to pull my nose out of your business if offensive... I just love riffing with folks in this space since it's so new to me!) What are you changing about your launch and why?

      1. 1

20K in presales is downright lovely!

That's the goal - we'll see if it happens!

How much will you charge for the course and how large is your mailing list?

It's a bit difficult to say for sure what size the list is. I have several list of more/less interest.

But ~300 who are explicitly waiting for the launch, and ~700 more who are interested (signed up for a lead magnet)

Not sure what I'll charge for the course yet.

Probably there'll be a 'completely hands off' version for <$100 and a 'serious' package for ~$1500. Maybe something in between as well.

What are you changing about your launch and why?

The only real big change (other than some wording, adding testimonials etc) is the launch of multiple packages. I'm still not sure how I'll do that well.

        1. 1

Is the "why" to meet the needs/pocket books of more folks?

          1. 1

            Yep!

A lot of people can't afford $1k+ for a course, and aren't taking their project seriously enough to justify it anyway.

For them, I want to be able to provide just a really simple 'exactly what you need to know about sales to get your first ~20 customers' guide.

I'd love to hear how you're handling pricing/packaging too!

  3. 3

By end of August, I'll have proven whether my online course was a one hit wonder or a source of recurring revenue.

    EPIC

    KUDOS

@bjames for joining the stand up party! @louisswiss excited to have an online course buddy!

    1. 1

How are you editing the videos?

And what platform do you use for the course?

      1. 1

Not self-editing. I've done that work before in a past life and I found the process incredibly tedious (although I found the end process worth it). I've hired a fab videographer, who will also take on the editing! Are you doing your own editing?

I'm Teachable all the way. I gave maybe 4 other platforms a look, but Teachable got me immediately into the game! What do you use?

  4. 2

    # EPIC

    Reach MVP

    # BREAKDOWN

Week 1: Tools week - I've got several additional tools in mind, I'm going to try to get at least two of them completed by the 8th. I'm also going to be fixing a couple of issues I've noticed with the current tools. I'll also add client side input validation, I'm only doing server side validation right now.

Week 2: Writing Week: Troubleshooting flow-chart and/or checklist, a couple of articles for the notes section

Week 3: Do some basic SEO, keywords, sitemaps, etc. More tools work or writing as time allows.

Week 4: Finalize the look and feel of the website, any design changes should be minor at this point. Explore some of the paid ideas I've been kicking around.

    # LAST NIGHT

    • Added basic client side input validation
    • Added more exception handling to the cURL tool

    # TONIGHT

    • The Python ipaddress library that I'm using for the subnet calculator doesn't classify IP address types correctly in all circumstances. I'm going to add some logic to handle that.
    • Take my wife out for dinner

    # KUDOS

@Harlem - I've only been doing this for a couple of days, but it's great that you're getting us to set concrete daily goals.

    1. 1

So glad you're getting something out of it! And nicely done with finishing yesterdays commits!
