Standup #1 - 5/18/2020

I am building software to manage hotels.

Got this idea as my friend, who owns a couple hotels and actively manages one, has been telling me about how terrible the software in the industry is. With a little investigation myself most of the software looks like it was built in the 90s, doesn't support mobile or is highly unreliable (uptime).

With quarantine providing extra time to work on stuff thought I'd make an attempt to build something useful for him to use to run his hotel. If things go well perhaps other hotels could use it too.

My goals in the project are to understand the entire stack of developing software better, especially front end and web technologies as this isn't my strength. Overall I'd like to build a enterprise application end to end including supporting real customers. I want to experience what it's like to run a SaaS.

The image above is where I'm starting from. I'd like to check in everyday and use this stand up space to keep me accountable. The goal is to spend at least 10 hours per week on this project.
