Start rice selling business without any inventory (Advice Needed)
I want to sell rice on e-commerce marketplace. I don't know whether people will buy rice online or not. I intend to launch my brand and fulfill initial orders by buying good quality rice at retail price, repackaging it using my brand and shipping it. Later, I can buy at whole sale price in bulk and make profit.
Plz review this plan - can it work? what things should I keep in mind?
Is there any technical term for this way of testing demand in market?

I'm not sure what market you're in, but in western countries, you can order rice online from supermarkets and specialty stores for consumption or even seed rice from seed providers. You can consider that as either validation or a high chance of competition to irrelevance depending on your local conditions.
There are also specialty rice like riceberry that one could try a specialty marketing play like they attempt on miracle berry and such
