Started my newsletter 100 days ago, passed 620 subscribers

Newsletter: https://mythicalai.substack.com/

Topic: AI and how to use it in your life

Post frequency: Once a week. I didn't want to do daily 'just link' posts as there were already a few in the space.

Biggest source of growth: Twitter. If add value to conversations and if I have written about the topic, I share it.

Biggest surprise: The article I was most worried about ended up being one of my most popular. You never know what is going to hit well. Just create value and post it and let the readers decide.

When growth is the slowest: If I miss a post. I have missed two weeks of posting and both of those times the growth slowed.

    Congrats 🎉! Very inspiring

I'm also starting a newsletter. It's almost Day 1 for me

You got it! What is preventing you from sending your first email today?

        1. 1

Text 10 people who you think would like it and ask them to sub. You got this!

Hey Josh! That's pretty awesome and inspiring.

I recently started a weekly newsletter on Substack and would love to know your opinion on which social media I should focus on at the beginning to promote my content. I write essays on literature, art, history, music, philosophy, etc.

Looking at other newsletters that are doing well, I feel that Twitter is a good place to start for now. Would love to hear your opinion on it.

    Cheers!

Good question. I would say focus on whatever you are currently using.

The key is find conversations already happening, and contribute meaningfully. Don't just shout into the void.

For example I would find tweets about topics I wrote about, and then answer peoples questions that the original author didn't answer.

Understood. Thanks for the tip. Really appreciate it!

What was your strategy for visibility and gaining new followers?

    1. 1

Strategy for visibility is to share articles when people are talking about them.

For example I saw people on Twitter talking about text to music. I wrote about that. So I shared the article. https://mythicalai.substack.com/p/where-is-dalle2-for-creating-music

That has been the most effective for me. Providing value in conversations.
