Starting a company blog - seeking set up advice !

Your own website would probably be a better choice.

I'd recommend Medium if you want to publish as a person, not a brand. I find it that people prefer to connect with people, not with a company logo. There are people who run successful business promotion on Medium but they're all writing from their "personal" accounts.

I'd ensure your blog is on your domain, not a sub domain. This is very important for SEO e.g helpstay.com/journal/

I recommend a self-hosted blog since you'll have full control over it.

I think Medium is a great way to easily get started though.

I used Medium in the past and it's great but for CronMonit I ended up using Tumblr since I thought Medium limits non-members to only be able to read X number of posts per month. Found out that restriction only applies for premium posts though.

Thanks - so much great advice! Based on what you guys have said I think I will start posting on medium as myself and prep blogs and content for the company to host on our own domain as a company blog ! Woo lots of content to get to, wish I could hack my way to having more time !

Why not both! Have your medium link to your blog also.

Medium's a great way to easily get started, but I'd definitely recommend hosting the content on your own domain.

If don't have a CMS, you could use a tool like Ghost to easily integrate a backend for creating and publishing content.

When you self-host your own blog, you can not only attribute the traffic to your domain, but you can also add useful inetgrations like Google analytics and remarketing pixels.
