Are there any indie hackers out there that have experience running a web development agency, specifically with high-end clients ($10k+ projects)? Would you recommend it as a business?
You see numerous business influencers running design and marketing agencies. But you don't see that many software agencies, and I'm curious why.
Because drop-and-drag builders and automated solutions are cheaply available. Therefore understanding how it actually works is not that relevant anymore.
From what I have seen most agencies sell marketing, not actual software. So would I recommend it. Not unless you are certain you can get the clients. That probably won't happen unless you're more a marketer than a programmer, or happen to know one to team up with.
PS: I may be a bit biased as I have not been able to make a penny with my coding over the last 10 year or so.
