Starting to publish series of articles on Devto

I've checked some stories you published and for example this one:

seems to be an exact copy of your hacker noon article linked at the top. AFAIK, reusing content word-by-word doesn't work well with search engines. Instead, you can use the canonical URL feature. With that, your post will have a little link at the top:
https://dev.to/marcinwosinek/how-to-use-native-es-modules-1fhm
and there will a special tag in the HMLT, so the search engines know that this is a copy of some other page, and any "SEO power" they have here, they should assign to the source instead.

I think in the current situation this doesn't matter, as your work is contributing to either hackernoon's or dev.to's SEO position - either way, you don't benefit much from it. If you want to spend time writing, and have an idea to build something around it at some point, I recommend you to get a domain & publish under your domain. Then you can keep on republishing your content wherever it works fine, and always link back to your domain with a canonical URL. That's exactly what I do right now with my blog. I run it at hashnode, which is a platform similar to dev.to, but they offer custom domain support.
