Starting to see results from SEO! 4 things I'm trying

My SEO efforts are starting to lead to more clicks πŸŽ‰ 2.5 clicks in the last month!

Here are 4 things I've been testing and what I think is working πŸ‘‡ If you have experience working with SEO, I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

For context, I'm building Remote Rocketship, which is a job board for remote jobs

1. Using the Ahrefs method and ChatGPT to write blog posts.

This is essentially using Ahrefs to find high-volume keywords that currently have sites that are in the top-10 google search results and have a lower Domain Rating than yours

I used ChatGPT to write blogs on an array of interviewing questions advice (see http://remoterocketship.com/advice for the blogs)

The results from this haven't been great: 300 clicks in the last month.

2. "Programmatic SEO" i.e. create a long tail of web-pages that target more specific search queries.

For example "remote junior frontend jobs poland". The results from this also haven't been great. Around 250 clicks in the last month.

  1. cont) I suspect one reason is that indexing for these pages take long.

Another could be that these terms are more competitive. The top results are usually dominated by LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.

so what's driving the spike? I think its this:

3) For Job Postings, you can request Google to index these pages using their API if you add the JobPosting metadata

This means that these pages get indexed faster and explains the sudden climb in this chart.

This drove the majority of the clicks in the month - 2.4k!

Looking at the search terms these pages get clicks for, it seems this does more for the long-tail searches than the programmatic seo described in 2) above

4): I'm slowly getting more backlinks to my site by writing guest posts on other sites.

I'm targeting sites that have an interviewing focus, since they have the right target audience and I can provide unique insights on this (I used to interview software engineers at Meta)

For example, here are 2 posts I wrote for Interviewing io and Taro

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading! I'd love to hear any ideas or thoughts you may have 😊
