Startup or Founder? Help me choose the name for my blog/podcast/YouTube channel

Hi!

After focusing the last year 100% on my project, I now feel a strong need to share what I learned as a founder, working solo on a project that has now exceeded $11K MRR. Aka "build in public and inspire others" :-p (aka "new shining object")

My format would be a single blog post each week, which I would also publish as a podcast and video (with the least amount of effort to achieve this).

I haven't settled on the name yet, hence this post.

Thanks for your help!

IHers are drowning in content already because there is a surplus of it.

I'll be contrarian and offer a few name suggestions for your format to stand out in your potential audiences' mind.

    • How not to fail in public
    • Solo and almost failing
    • Solo, Success and Failure. Pick Two.

What does make you feel that IHers are drowning in content?

I like having a name that stands out, but why focus so much on failure? I have failed in my past and that will be integrated into my story, but I don't want to focus on it.

My goal is to inspire developers that are trapped in corporate jobs and show them another path that I'm currently living successfully. I must say I'm hesitating to do it either in French on English... But that's another topic.

Off the top of my head, there are a lot of good resources for IHers to learn from:

        Audio:

        • IH podcast
        • SFTRUS (Startups for the rest of us)
        • Nuggets.one

        Text:

        • IH newsletter (Indie Airwave, Indie Alternatives, Milestone Road, Demand Curve, User Acquisition Channels etc)
        • The Hustle
        • Trends.co|vc

        Gatherings:

        • MicroConf
        • Founders Summit

There’s only so much anyone can consume, so we tend to pick a learning resource for a format/medium we like. Occasionally, a story breaks out that catches our attention from a different medium.

You don’t have to use any of the names I suggested. My use of failure was merely to get your attention, and clearly it worked 😊.
If your story isn’t remarkable, why would anyone from your target audience care enough to read/listen/watch you relate it?

(You don’t have to answer my rhetorical question, but it’s something I think about a lot.)

          It worked indeed :-D

Of course there are really good resources out there! That's a great thing! But that doesn't ultimately translate to "drowning" as you said. There is food for everyone and that's a good thing.

My story is quite remarkable indeed, I don't know other folk out there:

          • Solo technical founder, staying solo on purpose
          • Bootstrapped their way to $11K MRR in 8 months
          • From a van
          • During a pandemic (this part, I didn't plan :-p )

(It has even been picked up by Whereby for their communication: https://whereby.com/blog/stories/the-man-who-launched-his-business-from-a-van )

Anyway, I want to create a resource that would have helped me 5 years ago. Showing how I'm doing it can only help other people believe in themselves and use what I learned along the way. There a so many ways you can create a company, discovering new ones can only expand your horizons.

I was going for it in English but your one comment had an impact on me. "Hmm maybe he's right; I should do this in a market that has less native resources like this"...

Thank you for making me think further

            That's an impressive story.

Thank you as well, because this was an enjoyable exchange where I ended up reading your story, and learned of an European competitor to Zoom: Whereby.com.
