Startup with good revenue looking for tech lead/product builder/potential co-founder

Hello! I have been doing things that don't scale for a few months and we're generating revenue. I'll share revenue numbers if we have a chat.

I do not have a product, I am running a managed marketplace in the B2B space. It's working well enough but I don't have a fully fledged product for various reasons.

Here's where things get more interesting.

I'm not married to building a marketplace, at all. In fact, I have a bunch of insights and problems I've uncovered that could lead to a SaaS product instead. I have a strong preference for B2B. If it's boring, even better. I do not want to sell a $9 a month subscription. I'm also a fan of verticalized software.

We could use the current marketplace to keep revenue coming in the door to fund experiments and marketing! I also have cash reserves to spend on customer acquisition.

About me: I'm non-technical. I have 12+ years of B2B sales experience. I'm decent at marketing. Above average at SEO. Sold two SaaS apps for a small amount. Based in NYC.

About you: Most likely a full stack engineer. I'm looking for someone with complimentary skills. You are a builder, you take things from 0 to 1, and you move fast. You're all about market feedback. You get shit done. Ideally you've done the startup thing before or you've built your own products.

I can get whatever we build in front of customers. I will take on the rejection and plow forward, and provide you with my learnings. If you can build, I can sell.

I'm open to working with someone anywhere in the world. I'm open to various arrangements depending on your skills and experience. Obviously it needs to be mutual.

if you want to chat, reply with your info, a quick bio, and I'll reach out if there appears to be a fit. Happy to answer any questions too.

    • full stack
    • 3 failed products which was potentially missing a sales person like you.

Hey there, really liked your message, really sparked something, would be great to chat more. Even if it's not co-founding, there could be collaboration, or hey, just sharing?

What I liked? I think a message from someone who can sell, explaining to people who love to build (not just code, but value) that they need someone who loves to build will appeal to many of us :-)

    Ok, about me:

    • Been coding for over 20 years, fullstack (currently CTO), mainly web based apps, platforms, but have built native apps too. Fullstack, from DB optimization all the way to UX/UI thinking on the frontend.

    • Went through the journey of full stack snr engineer to pivoting to becoming a startup engineer... which is basically an engineer that;s much closer to the biz, the customers, and wears a product hat.

    • Started my startup journey around 2011 when I saw a talk by Eric Ries! Left my snr dev job building a netflix style platform for a malaysian tv company to join an accelerator in Sydney Australia. Founded a legal platform from scratch, and went through getting that FIRST paying customer.. what a thrill.

    • Left sydney, and did a bunch of early stage startup consulting, building MVPs, rescuing projects, helping non technical founder deal with their offshore tech teams etc etc.

    • Tried to compete with bigger players in the Saas metrics space with my own little startup, part time, got a few customers but failed, exited for about $20k.

    • Built an MVP in 2016 for a couple of sales guys, and am now the CTO of that company, scaling if from nothing to something which honeslty still resembles a startup, but with way more revenue.

However, although I was employee 1, it's not my business. At the time I decided to take contract markets rates and small equity, so still have an itch for something where I have more ownership.

What else? Took up skate boarding in my 40s (I'm 42 now), wrangling two insane boys, love yoga, coffee and photography. I've never been to NY! Would love to visit :-)

Originally from Brazil, lived mostly in the UK, no in the south of Spain.

Hit me up, you can also fine me here https://www.linkedin.com/in/thatandyrose/

Hey literally coming to IH first time after watching some designjoy interviews. I'm not necessarily looking to partner as I'm optimizing for my own cash flows but as a fellow builder and founder I think something you should def consider is going the nocode route.

I run the leading web3 dev agency on bubble and now have proprietary software focused on that niche. I've also ramped up on nocode in two years to the point that I've built both my landing page and a completely functional web3 marketplace in nocode. Feel free to check it out one2all.io.

Confidentially your post was top of the list and I think for anyone looking to build and build fast, nocode will be 10x faster than regular code (I know I've lived that as a Fintech product mgr for 10 yrs prior to launching one2all fulltime). It also gives you and your founding team One Hundred Percent transparency into your software. Which should not be overlooked and in my opinion far far outweighs any potential lockin risk if you choose the right platform.

In any case happy to chat even to just brainstorm as a fellow builder as there is one thing I know as well, I suck at marketing and could learn a thing (or five)!

You got me at "If you can build, I can sell."

What have you sold so far? And do you have any ideas in mind for the next project?

About me: I am a senior software developer, in the trenches for more than two decades now. I have worked with startups, and organizations, across the world. I am hands on myself and can also assemble a team at short notice. Feel free to ping me if you have specific questions.

What is the 'managed marketplace' about? As in what is the product or service?

  11. 1

Hi i'd love to chat. I like moving fast, and I can build full stack stuff. Most notable thing I ever built was Purebet (would link it but I'm not allowed to post links yet). I'm still in college so money won't be as much of a concern for me as it might be for other people here. Discord: usernameusername#8020

Hey there! I just read your post and it seems like a good fit. I built two SaaS app, have a professional work background in software engineering / software quality, a scientific background in machine learning and a CS Master's degree.
I can get shit done quickly, have broad experience as a full-stack dev (front-end, back-end, infra and everything that brings a new product from beginning to end).

    Hey!

For most people here at IndiaHackers, selling is hard so a lot of them will be willing to partner up with you. As for myself, I've been in the industry for 13+ years now. I'm not a full stack developer myself but I'm building a micro-SaaS with the help of a team. I'm more of a Product guy for this team but I know selling is not gonna come naturally to come. So if you think you'd be interested in learning more about the product and atleast taking this discussion forward, message me at hello@getkudos. io

Hey, I'm Scott, also in NYC!

I'm a full-stack developer currently working in the AI space. I mostly have experience in the javascript ecosystem, but in the last 6 months, I've gotten more and more into Python. I'm also very experienced in building startups, working on product, and talking to customers.

I'm actively looking to work on my own startup again and partnering up with a really good sales/marketing person.

    Please DM on Twitter (scotty529)

    Best,
    Scott

Hi, I have 15 years building SaaS platforms, including marketplaces, as well as B2B offerings. In fact I prefer B2B where possible. If there is synergy I can generally accelerate launch - we are talking a few months - and not of an MVP but fully functioning end product. And available over web and mobile (progressive web app).

My strength is that I can contribute to overall business strategy - I have helped startups with their Product / MVP / GTM strategy - but ultimately am a CTO/CPO /Full stack dev all in one. ian . whiteley @ ymail

I get stuff done and can be flexible about the arrangement. I've got lots of experience as a tech lead and senior engineer. [email protected]

Hey @StartupSales, based on your post you seem to know how to sell a project and yourself, and that's what I'm looking for in a partner.

About me, I have been working in tech for the past 15 years, of which the last 7 years I have been building custom software, including coding frontends and backends, and consulting CEOs/Founders on product management as a freelancer. I have seen many different environments and requirements, to be able to choose the right approach for the right stage of the business.
I also build my own SaaS B2B product and see our interests here aligned. Additionally, I have built a lot of side projects using Nocode to move fast and iterate on ideas and see what works with a focussing only on the customer needs. So getting something from 0 to 1 is what I love.

Currently, Im looking for a partner who really knows how to sell a product. Does not need to be a fancy project, as long as it's genuine and useful to a business, and will generate cash flow: I can build it, if I know you will sell it.

Reach out to me here: [email protected]

This sounds very impressive. One question - isn’t the toughest thing getting a marketplace going at all? My instinct (but has no insight if course) would be to iterate and improve that.

I’m a developer but always glanced at the entrepreneurial with some envy. I build stuff, perhaps not the fastest but I build robust and so others can pick up.

    Based in Northern Europe.

I'm Shyamin from Sri Lanka and I'm successfully running a Twilio kind of service that focus on Sri Lankan audience. I think I'm really good at building things with new technologies while focusing on cost factor, but I lack the experience in sales. So, I think it'll be a great combo if we can team up.

Let me know if you are interest to have a chat :-)

I am a web/mobile app developer from Toronto, who build and launched several SaaS product in the past.
I currently have some free time on my hand, that I am happy to spend on building your application.
The last app I build was a food-delivery web/mobile app. This application handled 80,000 products sourced from 500 different vendors, processing 10,000 orders per day and managing 50 live chats. All of this was achieved on a single server, which cost only $5 per month, before being acquired by one of the food delivery giant.
Write me an email if you want to talk.

Curious what you’re cooking up. My super power is getting shit done fast, especially in the MVP phase.

I’m a CTO and Fullstack engineer. I have over 20 years experience building and managing tech, but have also been an entrepreneur for 10+ years. I’ve built my own b2b saas product and got it up to 20k mrr.

DM me if you wanna chat. Regardless of fit, I always like connecting with smart folks.
