Hi all,
I'm about to launch StaticBackend a tool developers use that handle backend functionalities like user management, database, storage, and websocket.
It's a simpler alternative to Firebase without AI, FaaS, and hosting. It's a great companion to Netlify.
My vision is to add more backend features based on what initial customers will ask for.
There's no UI for now. Only a CLI (command-line interface). There's not really any value unless one is building an application using the services.
The big difference is that there's a self-hosted version and an open source version available. The primary goal is to make sure no one is locked-in either from data, pricing, or platform itself.
Before launching I'm planning on having a full video series of me building a tiny SaaS to showcase the product and how it make building web applications faster.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks
