Steal this idea. Or not. A different type landing page
I'm working on a side project that's a few months away from launch. One feature is each user has a timeline and certain features around that timeline. The idea is simple:
What if instead of a home page whenever someone visits for the first time they come to the timeline of someone already on the site with a message that says "You're viewing the website as John Doe". Message can be on a hover box somewhere with button to create their own profile. Some features would of course be disabled in the 'view profile as xyz' mode.
Would love to hear what you guys think. Also feel free to steal the idea if it works for your project
Could be a cool idea for a certain type of project, but wouldn't definitely work for most apps. This reminded me of how Fathom Analytics does this, allowinf users to create a public link to their analytics dashboard they can share with anyone with a CTA to register. You can check Sitesauce's public analytics dashboard here as an example.
