Hi everyone, we created STEO!
A gamified app for personal development. The idea of STEO came from a simple observation: most people want to change their lives, but self-development tools often feel overwhelming or abstract.
STEO turns psychological growth into a structured gamified journey. Inside the app, users move through levels that explore mindset on set topics. Each level includes small prompts for reflection, and insights designed to create real internal shifts. STEO is consistent transformation through small daily steps.
We’re launching the first version to see how people interact with this idea and to learn from the community. I’d love to hear your thoughts:
• What helps you stay consistent with personal growth?
• What do you think we could improve on?
Thanks for checking out STEO 🙏

the gamification angle makes a lot of sense for this type of app - consistency is the real enemy in personal development tools. what i've seen with apps like this is that d7 retention is the make-or-break metric early on, if people aren't coming back after a week, layering on growth doesn't really help. the level-based progression sounds like it could actually solve this since it creates permanent progress rather than a streak that can break and demoralize people. curious what your d1 vs d7 retention is looking like in early testing?
Congrats on shipping! The gamification angle for personal growth is smart because the biggest challenge in this space is always consistency. Most self-improvement apps front-load motivation and then people drop off after week two.
I've been building a habit tracker myself (Tiny Steps) and the thing that made the biggest difference for retention was removing streak guilt. When you punish people for missing a day, they quit entirely instead of just picking back up. Curious if you've thought about how STEO handles that gap between "I missed a few days" and "I'm starting over from scratch" because that's usually where apps like this lose people.
The level-based structure sounds like it could help with that since there's a sense of permanent progress rather than a streak that resets. Would love to hear how the early feedback goes.
denenebilir.
Excited to try this. It's hard to build habit, but gamification really helps. This seems like a really interesting approach. Congrats and good luck.
That's a brilliant idea! I'll give it a try.
Interesting concept. How do you keep users engaged over time? A lot of self-development apps struggle with retention.
Nice to see another Aussie building on here. The gamification angle makes sense — I've tried a bunch of personal development apps and the ones I actually stuck with always had some kind of progression system that made it feel like you were getting somewhere rather than just reading the same prompts every day. Curious how long the levels take to work through and whether you're planning to add any social/accountability features down the track. That's usually what keeps me coming back to anything habit-related.
Gamification is a smart approach for personal growth because consistency is usually the hardest part. Something that could really help with adoption is a polished demo showing how someone progresses through the levels and reflections inside the app. A strong launch video can make the idea feel more real and engaging for new users. I help startups create those kinds of product launch videos, so if you plan to promote STEO more widely I’d be glad to help.
