Stop Copy-Pasting, Write Faster

Hey Indie Hackers!

I'm excited to share what we've been building: InPage AI. We made it because we were so frustrated with the constant back-and-forth between web pages and ChatGPT. It felt like a total time-suck.

InPage AI fixes that. It's a little browser extension that puts an AI assistant right inside any text box on any website. No more switching tabs, no more copy-pasting. Just instant AI help where you need it.

Give it a try and let me know what you think! We're really looking for feedback.

Sounds really interesting, I will try it

Really nice idea, nice website as well. I will definitely try your product soon. But I have a basic question, that I am confused about. You give your free users 50 Free AI prompts. This means that each free user will cost you money, which seems like a bad thing (also unsustainable). Then, I also noticed that you have a lifetime account for $90. If somebody buys your lifetime account, they will keep using your API calls at your back-end. Over the lifetime, there is a good chance that those users might incur you costs greater than the $90 fee that they paid to you. So how will you be able to make money in these scenarios?

Thanks for the kind words and great question!

The free tier is essentially our user acquisition cost. It lets people experience InPage AI firsthand, and we've calculated the 50 prompts as a manageable investment to hopefully convert users who find it valuable.

As for the Lifetime Deal, it's really important for getting our first users and valuable feedback to help us grow. We've looked at the potential costs and believe it works out based on how people typically use tools like this over time.

Hope you get a chance to try InPage AI soon.

Love the website, looks really sleek.

What I don't understand -> Does one need to bring API keys or are you taking the hit for any query the user makes.

The user does not need to bring their own API keys - we've got you covered. I'll be updating the landing page to make this clearer based on your feedback. Thanks!

You've got a really well-designed website, good job!
However, the extension sign-in flow does not work for me. I wouldn't handle the sign in in the extension itself, it would be better experience if you got a web app and that would handle the sign in process.

We just released a new version with a fix for this. Do you mind checking if the issue is resolved for you now? Cheers

just checked, overall nice UI, and stable.

        A few comments:
        - Redirect to the sign-in page after installation, otherwise the user might not find the extension icon the first time, and easily to sign in
        - ALT + I should be CMD + I on mac, it works with CMD+I just the onboarding message says ALT + I
        - You should have some markdown formatting, since sometimes it responds in markdown format, eg. I asked to write an article about a webpage.

        Product feedback:
I already have the ChatGPT desktop app, which opens a similar window on Option + Space. It does not have context about the page, but they keep adding new app support. E.g., I'm on my code editor, then open ChatGPT by Option + Space, it shows me that it has context on my active code editor tab, it also works with the Notes app, iTerm, etc., so at some point they will just add the browser active tab too.
So you might need a better differentiator.
