Story of my startup

Hello Indie Hackers,

I want to share my startup journey.

First, I am a graduate student at the University of Utah studying neuroscience. This spring is my last semester, and I am writing my thesis for the graduation requirement. I am also part of a startup and came up with the idea. I have four developers (two senior levels and two junior levels) so far, and they are building a website. We will upload the landing page within a week.

The funniest thing is I have ZERO knowledge of web development. That is why I was trying to find someone who could help me. As I mentioned, the two senior-level developers just got new jobs and cannot do actual coding now. The two junior-level developers are a student living in Zimbabwe, Africa. I love to work with them because they are so passionate and desperate to have an excellent experience with this project.

I met many developers who wanted to help me for free, but they quit their position within two weeks at most. It has been almost two years since I tried to start a startup with this idea. I want to say to people trying to start their startup that someone wants to help you. They are invisible because you want to find the best developer you have ever met. Just find a guy who can help you with a simple thing first, such as advice about your startup or a person who can do brainstorming with you.

I will keep posting since we build a landing page.

For someone who is struggling, do not quit. You will find a team, but the process is brutal and harsh. But eventually, pretty sure you will recruit a nice team.

Thank you for reading my first post!

Hi JunSeop. Just saw your post now and my response is 1 year late. I hope I can help however (we can help each other) since I am seeking to also gain some experience as a Junior Web Dev. I just followed you and you can get in touch.

Hey, GutterBlake, I hope you are doing well. Our version 1 was quite successful, and our version 2 is almost coming out. We transferred to a non-profit organization, and we are trying to focus more on our mission.

We have an official partnership with the Zimbabwe Open University, and we hired 3 interns from our partnership. It has been quite a while, and I am glad that I could share more about our startup :)

Hi @Jun_ thanks for sharing your story. I’m a UofU graduate and working on an MVP. You might be able to meet people interested in joining your team through Lassonde. Super curious to see the progress you‘ve made on your landing page!

      Hello Heilly!

Nice to meet you. My team wanted to launch by tomorrow-Lassonde Demo Day- but we found some errors when we integrated the APIs. But we will be at the Lassonde for the Demo Day showcase, and you can come and sign up for the future launching! We expect the launching timeline to be by Friday - May 5th -. I hope we can discuss more about your MVP and mine soon!

Hey @Jun_! Doing okay! I’ve been away from IH for a bit and paused what I was working on. Have you guys launched?
