Strategy For LinkedIn Connection Spam: Accept, Then Solicit Your Product Back!

In thinking about how to market my product better and which channels to use to "build in public" for my startup BudgetSheet, LinkedIn comes to mind. My product is very useful for business and finance types, so I have been on LinkedIn a bit more than usual lately seeing how others use it for marketing.

One thing that has always irritated me about LinkedIn is random connection requests from people that are obvious solicitations for business. I just got another one today from a CPA. I decided to accept since CPAs like spreadsheets and finance software, and then solicit him right back if I was right about the connection request being a thinly veiled sales pitch.

Sure enough, I was right... an immediate message soliciting his services. Obviously, I took the opportunity to solicit my own products right back:

I haven't heard back from him yet...
