StreetKode - a community-first marketplace for emerging streetwear designers.

Hello! I’ve started a little project that I think could have a lot of potential upside.

The project is called StreetKode, and it’s aim is to be THE community and marketplace for emerging streetwear designers to showcase and sell their clothing.

The idea struck me as I’ve been a bit involved in the streetwear startup community on Reddit, and sometimes I watch streetwear content creators on YouTube trying on different brands, fits, etc.

The need I’m seeking to fill is to bring customers to these designers instead of them only showing off their work to other designers on Reddit and trying to market their own Shopify stores for sales.

I think I could benefit those designers by only charging listing fees and a small percentage of their sales. Kind of like and Etsy set-up.

I think I could also lure a lot of the community with other fun features like “cop or drop,” where members could upvote or downvote potential designs, drops, etc.

In order to market it, I would consistently post on Reddit, reach out to content creators on YouTube and TikTok, and try to get some blog mentions.

A future plan would also be to act as a marketplace for the designers to buy t-shirt blanks and other clothing at a small markup above wholesale, as that usually takes a reseller permit and most indie designers don’t bother with all of that in the beginning.

I’m using the MERN stack coupled with the Chec api to try and bring this to fruition.

I’m open to any feedback / ideas but mostly just wanted to make my first post about what I’m up to!
