Stripe, EU VAT and Moss, how do you deal with this?

Hey Csaba, totally feel you, Stripe + EU VAT + MOSS can be overwhelming if you're self-handling.

We built VATFix Plus for exactly this situation. It doesn’t handle filing like Quaderno or act as MOR like Paddle but it does validate EU VAT numbers (even when VIES is down), so you can automate reverse charge logic, apply correct VAT, or verify business customers.

It's backend-only and fits well if you're building with Stripe or your own billing stack. No dashboards, no extra bloat just API validation.

I've automated this using a simple script. The script use the API from https://vatlayer.com to get VAT rates for each EU member. Once downloaded, I simply sync this data with the billing/tax rates in Stripe using their API.

You would then have to make sure to apply the correct tax rate at checkout when your users purchase/subscribe.

The applied VAT rates are visible in exports from Stripe, which makes collecting and paying MOSS pretty simple.

If you want to do it in stripe , get the vat rules in place, charge the correct VAT , and in your home country register for the moss vat filing.

There is a solution with paddle.com as a MOR (merchant of record) , but once you start you are locked in with them ...
